Ride With Us: Grove Grind TDU with La Velocita

Ride With Us: Grove Grind TDU with La Velocita

January 17, 2020

We're coming to Adelaide to soak up all that is Tour Down Under! Prior to exhibiting at MAKER in the Tour Village on Friday 24th, we're hitting the flowing gravel trails of Mt Lofty for a short but very sweet Grove Grind guided by James Raison from La Velocita.

Kicking off from 7 am with coffee at Basecamp Cafe in Burnside, we'll roll out at 7:30 eastward to the hills and soon hit the gravel and single track on a fun-filled 25km outing with about 600m of climbing. Estimated ride time is around 1.5hrs seeing us back at Burnside around 9 am.

Details

  • DATE: Friday 24th Jan 2020
  • START/FINISH LOCATION: Basecamp Cafe - 541 Glynburn Rd, Burnside SA 5066
  • START TIME: From 07:00 for coffee, roll out 07:30
  • ROUTE: You can view and download the route here
  • FINISH: We should be back in Burnside before 09:00. From there it's just 7km into the TDU Village

Please Note: This is not a sanctioned event, just a group of like-minded individuals going for a ride together.  The ride is unsupported, so you'll need to be self-sufficient and well prepared. Key things you should consider are:

  • Appropriate bike. Gravel/CX bikes will be optimal. MTBs are welcome. Road bikes are not recommended.
  • Suitable tyre set up. Sections of the route encounter corrugated, rocky and loose surfaces. We recommend a minimum tyre width of 32mm, but you’ll have more fun, control and flat-free speed with 40mm or more. Tubeless is highly recommended.
  • Food & water. Expect to be riding for 1.5 hours. Carry enough water and snacks to get you through the ride.
  • Know the route. Depending on our group size, riders may spread out. It is your responsibility to know where you are and where you’re going. The route, courtesy of James at La Velocita, can be found here. If you need help getting the route on your GPS device, please send us an email and we’d be happy to help.
  • Be safe & courteous. The roads are open, trails are shared, there is no route signage and you should expect to see some other people. Road rules and common courtesy apply. Don’t be a knob.
