Featuring Grove X AlexRims Boondocks 3 aluminium wheels wrapped in Panaracer GravelKing Tubeless tyres plus 160mm SRAM Centerline rotors and sensibly sized Sunrace RX 11 speed cassettes. Wheels are supplied with inner tubes installed but are easily set up tubeless with the pre-installed tubeless rim tape and supplied tubeless valves; just add sealant!
Panaracer are synonymous with gravel. Made in Japan, their GravelKing series are revered as the benchmark for high performance tubeless gravel tyres. Utilising the same natural rubber compound, puncture protection breaker and a special low rolling resistance casing as the other GravelKing models, the GravelKing Mud features an open tread design suitable for all-round conditions on a ‘cross track or damp to muddy gravel roads. The 700x33C size is UCI compliant for cyclocross racing and weighs 300g / tyre.
AlexRims have been manufacturing many of the world’s big-name rims for decades. Arguably the best rim maker in Taiwan, they now make all their hubs in house too maintaining top performance specifications with high quality assurance, all at a great price.
The Boondocks 3 wheelsets are robust, agile and fast rolling. Rims are 30mm deep with 21mm internal width and a tubeless ready design which suit tyre widths from 23mm to 55mm wide. 24 double butted stainless steel j-bend spokes lace 2-cross onto the Bear Pawls hubs. Hubs feature lightweight aluminium axles with low resistance sealed cartridge bearings; 2 in the front and 4 in the rear. A Shimano/SRAM 8-11 speed road freehub body ensures wide cassette ratio compatibility and axle specifications are for 12x100mm front and 12x142mm rear.
Rim decals are removable stickers providing the easy option of a stealth black wheelset.
The Sunrace CSRX1 cassette is the top of the line 11 speed cassette available from Sunrace. Featuring aluminium spiders, spacers and lockring, the 11-36t cassette weighs in at an impressive 360g. Sunrace cassettes are perfectly compatible with SRAM or Shimano 11-speed drivetrains and the cyclocross wheelset spec features a closer ratio (11-36t) compared to the other Grove wheelsets (11-42t) for reduced weight and a closer shift increment at the top end (12T between the 11 and 13T). The reduced slow speed range isn't an issue for CX racing where riders are faster running than pedalling a 1:1 gear ratio.
